Student Blogs Yoga-Bahamas Course

This January intersession Stephen Kaplan of the Religious Studies Department offered a course on yoga, in which students not only read texts about yoga and read yoga texts, but they immersed themselves in a variety of meditative, yoga practices at a Hindu ashram in the Bahamas.

Rikki Lynn is 1 of the 12 women who attended the course. Her extensive and eloquent blog entries/photos of the experience can be found here: Happy Medium.

NOTE: The veterans program is taught by Warriors at Ease, a non-profit dedicated to helping military and veteran populations, and by members of the Sivananda ashram staff, many of whom are veterans of the Israeli army. The January intersession course will bring together Warriors at Ease and the Sivananda ashram staff to provide 8 hours a day of a variety of forms of yoga and meditation. Learn to focus, learn to reduce stress, swim in a crystal blue ocean just a few feet from the yoga platforms, and earn 3 credits. Bhagavad Gita and sunscreen required.
