NEW Study Abroad Course in ROME
L.U.C.E. Study Abroad Course in Rome: Special Topics: In the Footsteps of Early Jews and Christians
Taught by Professor Claudia Setzer, this hybrid course will explore one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world and the beginnings of Christian groups in Rome. We’ll talk about daily life for ordinary Jews and believers in Jesus, how early churches grew, and the impact of martyrdom. We will focus special attention on early women leaders mentioned in Paul’s letters to the church at Rome. The course will culminate with a discussion of contemporary Catholic-Jewish relations and developing world-views and/or theologies that include the other. The first 5 sessions will take place online and we will end with 2 weeks in Rome visiting sites relevant to our studies and living at the La Sallian motherhouse in Central Rome.
