Professional/outreach:
I appeared this past Friday (October 22) on Fox 5 News at 6:00 in an on-air conversation with anchor Enrie Anastos. Our discussion concluded the program’s daily features last week of notable houses of worship in NYC. (some photos attached)
Scholarship:
I organized, moderated, and presented at a session on “Postcolonial Studies and Global Culture” at the International Academic Forum’s 2017 Global Studies Conference in Barcelona (July 14-16). My talk focused on “The Routes of Afro-Cuban Studies: Migration and Precarious Survival in the Life and Work of Rómulo Lachatañeré.” The presentation derives from my ongoing research on Lachatañeré.
